Executive Team

Our team is focused on ensuring our mission is present in everything we do. We are goal oriented, mindful and driven.

An entrepreneur and former investment banker, Eric worked for DLJ/Credit Suisse First Boston before co-founding Currenex, Plumgood Food, and Tennessee Community Ventures, a VC firm. Eric served on the Board of the TVA from 2015-January 2019, and he teaches an entrepreneurship class to high school students. A Miami native and diehard 'Canes and Dolphins fan, Eric went to Amherst College. After years in NYC and then San Francisco, he and his wife moved to Nashville, her hometown, to raise their kids. When he's not breathing life into startup companies, Eric loves to ski, play soccer, and practice yoga.

Founder and CEO

Andrea is drawn to big, complex problems that impact our society as a whole and how individuals live and thrive. She co-founded Ampersand Health, a services provider that improves the health of Medicaid and Medicare members in large urban areas. Through her experience across healthcare, product, and financial services industries, she has honed her problem-solving and execution skills. As an operator for companies large and small across healthcare, product, and financial services, she’s developed a strong muscle for driving priorities, measuring outcomes, and delivering results. On the weekends, she and her family can usually be found on the sidelines of a soccer field or at the trailhead of a mountain biking path.

Andrea Kampine

Chief Operating Officer

Tara enjoys helping build and scale businesses through her focus on successful growth strategies and financial discipline. The early part of her career was spent working internationally for German automotive giant, Daimler AG, where she was responsible for global sales strategy and business development. She then joined CommonBond, a New York-based FinTech company in consumer lending, and SaaS tech, where she led enterprise sales and strategic partnerships as their chief commercial officer. Tara is a graduate of Harvard Business School and the University of South Carolina.

Tara Fung

Chief Revenue Officer

Gary brings 30 years’ experience advising fast-growing companies from inception to exit. Gary began his legal career at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and Marsh & McLennan Companies. He then turned to helping startups as their general counsel. Currently, his practice is devoted to supporting leaders in FinTech and other SaaS/cloud categories as they grow. He’s a graduate of NYU Law and Dartmouth College.

Katrina graduated from Vanderbilt in '07 and was the second employee of then-startup Change Healthcare. Supporting the growth of the company to 80+ people over seven years, Welty designed integration, support, and implementation methodologies for Change Healthcare’s strategic partner market and managed product marketing for the company. After leaving Change, she went to work as the VP of product for Artist Growth, a music business management startup, gaining experience in the direct-to-consumer market.

Meet the Team

Our team does all things with a sense of urgency because your money, your investments, and your retirement matter.

Adam graduated with a finance degree from the University of Alabama and started his career as an anti-money laundering analyst at UBS. After taking data analytics classes at night, he became interested in software development. He joined Alto after graduation from the Nashville Software School with the intention of working in the FinTech industry. When he’s not busy coding, you might find him fly fishing, camping, or seeking live music.

Adam Byrd

Software Engineer

Brad brings his experience managing products across desktop apps and APIs, consumer-facing tools, internal ops software, and more. A healthcare industry veteran, he has helped startups evolve products and processes to reach users at scale. He believes that building relationships with colleagues, partners, and, most importantly, end users are the keys to software success. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Vanderbilt University, a master's in healthcare informatics from Lipscomb University, and he plays CF for the Nashville Maroons vintage baseball club.

Brad Hughes

VP Product

As a software programmer and entrepreneur, Brian brings 20 years of business and technical experience to the Alto team. His accomplishments include the development of an online scheduling and back office management system for a fleet of timeshared boats in Chicago, as well as a variety of custom tailored systems for businesses throughout the Midwest. He has a bachelor's in music composition and loves to cook, read astrology charts and study the exciting complexities of human psychology.

Brian Allemana

Senior Developer

Originally from Texas, Erin received a BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin before earning her MS in Library Science from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. After nine years as a librarian, her love of research, classifying materials, and methodical problem-solving inspired her to seek a career change to software development. She is excited to bring her user-focused design and analytic strengths to Alto. A librarian at heart, Erin still loves to read as well as travel, run, garden, study Spanish, and spend time with her husband and two daughters.

Software Engineer

A newspaper reporter in her past life, Flynn changed careers by earning her MBA at NYU Stern (2008) and working in brand management for Unilever for 7 years. After 9 years in NYC, Flynn set her sights on Nashville, a city she had loved since her days at Vanderbilt (BA 2003). She relocated with tech services company Asurion and worked for 5 years in roles spanning product marketing and client marketing. Flynn is excited to bring her passion for both B2B and D2C marketing and brand strategies to Alto. She is a board member of Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee and a 2019 winner of Nashville Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” award.

Senior Director of Product Marketing

Jacob began his career at a healthcare startup in a variety of roles spanning customer experience, marketing, and, most recently, product management. Jacob’s products experience has included products geared towards healthcare consumers and HR/clinical staff as well as internal support tools and API products. Jacob graduated from Vanderbilt University with degrees in philosophy and Human and Organizational Development. On the weekends, Jacob is likely at a concert, obsessing over how to make the perfect pizza, or cleaning his sneaker collection.

Jacob Beck

Product Manager

After receiving her MBA from SUNY Oswego, Jackie began her marketing career at an accounting firm, and quickly progressed into the fintech world. Through her experience in product, referral, and affiliate marketing, Jackie has always looked at marketing through the lens of the customer. As a passionate problem-solver, she has led initiatives to drive engagement and loyalty–enhancing the customer experience and lifecycle. When she’s not brainstorming new ideas, you can find her cooking a new recipe in her kitchen, walking her mini goldendoodle, or reading a book on the beach.

Jackie McGuire

Marketing Manager

James is entrepreneurial by nature. His dedication to helping people and making their lives better drives him to structure meaningful relationships and integrations with leading investment platforms and strategic partners, providing an array of investment opportunities for Alto's clients. James co-founded ShaveFace, a shaving startup, in 2014 and has since served as a consultant to several businesses at various stages, from private dining to women’s cosmetics. James loves cooking, yoga, travel, singing, the ocean, tahini, and just about anything he can read. He’s from coastal Connecticut and has a bachelor’s from Colby College.

James O'Brien

VP Partnerships

Josh began his legal career as an officer for the Metro Nashville Police Department, where he served as a detective, crisis negotiator, and recruit instructor. Most recently Josh led legal and compliance at Cumberland Trust and Investment Company as senior counsel. He has bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in psychology, as well as a law degree from the Nashville School of Law. In his free time, Josh enjoys running, hiking, gardening with his wife, and taking in local soccer with his son.

Kate loves getting to the bottom of things and helping people. As the director of client experience, she engages investors and issuers to deliver a best-in-class investment experience. Prior to AltoIRA, Kate worked in risk management for the FDIC as a Financial Institution Specialist and FINRA. In her down time, Kate enjoys cooking, rowing competitively, and watching Jon Stewart reruns. Originally from South Florida, she holds a degree in finance from George Washington University and loves a good hiking story.

Kate Mellinger

Director, Partnership Success

Many moons ago, Katherine was hired on the spot for a web design position with only a print portfolio. Since then she has designed sites and digital campaigns for clients like Oracle, Microsoft, the State of Tennessee, and the NFL, as well as online games for Nick Jr and Financial Times. Katherine is an experienced creative professional with demonstrated history in UI/UX, design thinking, building strong brands, and developing collaborative teams. She has worked at agencies, magazines, and a series of startups. When she’s not at work, she can be found seeking out live music or dancing in kitchens.

Katherine Terrell

VP Creative

Riley loves advocating for financial literacy in his social circles and enjoys investing in his free time. With the help of his father, he began contributing to a Roth IRA at 17 and has been investing ever since. Riley came to Alto by way of New York City, after spending two years with the FDIC’s division of Risk Management Supervision. Originally from Salt Lake City, he has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and snow sports and occasionally claims to be one of Nashville’s best skiers.

Riley Lawton

Director, Operations

Sang was previously a program manager in the US Navy, a role that allowed her to live in amazing places including Boston, Honolulu, and Sicily. After serving our country for more than 5 years, she decided to pursue a bachelor of business administration at Belmont University in Nashville and graduated in 2019. With her natural passion for helping others, Sang takes a unique and personal approach to solving problems. It’s no surprise that all of her former roles were focused on account management, customer experience, and operations. When she’s not advocating for Alto’s customers, you can find her reading Agatha Christie mystery novels or taking photographs.

Sang Nguyen

Client Experience Advocate

Will graduated from The College of New Jersey in 2017 and has previous experience in risk management as a Financial Institutions Specialist with the FDIC. Will also has successfully passed levels I & II of the Chartered Financial Analyst exam. As a financial analyst, Will is primarily responsible for modeling financial performance and managing the internal treasury function. Outside of work, Will enjoys biking, hockey, and hiking. Originally from the Philadelphia area, He is an avid Eagles and Flyers fan.
