Many of our users have been asking when we’ll offer an app, and today we’re thrilled to announce the beta launch of the new Alto CryptoIRA® mobile app.
Available on both Apple and Android devices, Alto’s new mobile app brings 24/7 tax-advantaged crypto trading to your fingertips wherever you go-without the high investment minimums required by many other crypto IRAs.
To celebrate the launch, we’re discussing the Alto CryptoIRA app’s current features, our decision to launch in beta, and what this means for you. Plus, read on for a sneak peek at what you can expect in the future.
Don’t Yet Have an Account?
Open an Alto CryptoIRA to begin trading 200+ cryptocurrencies through Coinbase integration with the tax advantages of a traditional, SEP, or Roth IRA.
What’s Included in the Beta Version of Alto’s Mobile Crypto App?
The new CryptoIRA mobile app puts tax-advantaged crypto trading at your fingertips wherever you go, enabling you to:
- Buy and sell crypto in your IRA anywhere, anytime
- Place market buys and sales
- View real-time price data for 200+ crypto assets
- Monitor the value of your crypto investments
- Access your complete trade history
But what about funding your account, placing limit orders, or updating your profile, you ask? We designed the beta version of our new crypto IRA mobile app to provide easy access to features currently available only in the browser-based web application.
Want to add funds to your account? Tap Add Funds on the Portfolio screen, and you’ll be directed to your web browser, where you can make a rollover or contribution.
Or maybe you want to update your profile, change your password, search our Support Center for frequently asked questions, or review our legal terms. All of these can be accessed with a single click from the Profile screen. There, you can also click to submit feedback.
And that’s just the start. During the beta phase, we’ll be rolling out a slate of added features, including the ability to:
- Place limit buys and sells
- Log in using biometric data

Why Launch Alto’s Crypto IRA Mobile App in Beta?
There’s a popular phrase among software developers: “Software is hard.” You’re not just building for the day of launch, or even several months down the road. You’re building for years from now. This means evaluating long-term plans and laying a foundation that can be iterated and scaled over years as our offerings and the needs of Alto users evolve.
That’s where you come in. We certainly have big plans for the future-and we can look to the apps of more traditional brokerages and crypto exchanges for inspiration-but ultimately crypto IRAs are still a relative newcomer to the world of investing.
To create the best mobile app for crypto trading in an IRA, we need to hear from you, which is why we’ve made it so easy to provide feedback. Just navigate to the Profile screen and select Email us feedback to share your thoughts.
Your feedback will be critical in not just helping identify future features or areas for improvement, but also in determining the order in which we focus our development efforts.
What’s Next for Alto CryptoIRA On Mobile?
Part of a beta launch means that not every feature will be available on day one. While your feedback will be invaluable in helping us to prioritize future enhancements, we have a pretty good idea of what will be added next. Namely, limit orders and biometric login.
