Who is Alto Trust?
Alto Trust Co. (“Alto Trust”) serves as the custodian for self-directed individual retirement accounts (“SDIRAs”), which account holders open to invest in a variety of alternative assets such as private placements, real estate, private funds, and cryptocurrency. Alto Trust is a chartered New Mexico non-depository trust company.
What does an IRA custodian do?
The core duties of an IRA custodian include safeguarding retirement assets, executing investment transactions, handling regulatory compliance, and reporting account activities 
to the IRS.
What does an IRA administrator do?
An administrator is an entity that performs certain administrative duties on behalf of a custodian. For example, Alto Trust, as custodian, has engaged its parent company, Alto Solutions, Inc., to provide certain administrative services in connection with 
Alto SDIRAs.
Is Alto Trust regulated?
Trust companies are generally subject to state regulation. 
As a New Mexico chartered trust company, Alto Trust is regulated by the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department’s Financial Institutions Division.
